Why I started VDH Training.

I want to build something beautiful and make a difference by teaching people to make their health a priority. I want to create a platform with educational programs to help people reach their fitness goals and lead a happier, healthier lifestyle.

My mission with VDH Training.
I believe we are all unique and different and because I have had many obstacles in my life, I want to embrace those people that just need a little help and give back by sharing my success and failures to inspire  and motivate people


My Name is Melody van der Horst, I am a Personal trainer, Athlete, and social Media  Fitness Influencer

Fitness is a very big part of my life and I live and breathe it every day but I want you to know it has not always been like that.

When I started my journey I had no sense of direction or clue what my life goals were or even know where to start. There was no strategic plan, I just knew it was time for a change.

Over the years I grew a huge passion for fitness, but starting out I would have never in a million years thought that my escape from reality and turning to the gym for comfort would have to lead me to the life and career path I am on now 

I grew up in the Netherlands, born and raised in Amsterdam in a half Dutch/ Italian family with 2 older brothers where I learned very quickly to earn my spot in life. I Always knew there was a bigger world out there and I was eager to explore it.

When I was 19 I got the opportunity to travel to school and I ended up moving to  Los Angeles. Where I started my Fitness Journey. Over the years I have learned to think smarter and defeat all physical and emotional challenges

Not only did the gym save me, it helped me find my purpose. I want to motivate and inspire others to be healthier, fit and feel confident in themselves

I want to lead by example and show people that if you have a vision and are willing to work hard, anything you can possibly imagine can become reality.


Do you ever feel like your life is out of control?  I did.  Throughout my life, I ran into many obstacles that resulted in me being severely depressed and gaining 40 pounds. One day, I woke up and was determined to turn my life around and find purpose.  I got focused, started running and got a gym membership.  

Within 9 months I went from 165 lbs to 120 lbs and found my purpose which is “to help others”.  I  began educating myself and became a personal trainer, life coach, and role model for others. My documented story is living proof that with a strong work ethic, and willpower you can be whoever you choose to be.  I created a big platform on social media and am now motivating and inspiring individuals daily, and will continue to do so.
